Still Stuck For Ideas? 10 More Sources For Blog Posts

No more excuses! We’ve got 10 more sources for blog posts that will get you out of the writing rut.

Owwww! My brain hurts! I couldn’t possibly come up with an idea for a new blog post. I'm going to Netflix and chill instead for inspiration.

Does this sound familiar? We thought it would – we hear excuses like this all the time (especially the eating Doritos in underwear one). So to give your brain a break, we’ve come up with 10 more sources for blog posts. Yes, we gave you some ideas before, but we held a few back. Now, we’re ready to give your inspiration to take away any excuse you may have for not writing a super-awesome blog post. Now let’s get to it!

  1. Google Alerts: You’ll have to do a little research into a few industry key words, but Google Alerts will do the rest. Set up Google Alerts to search the web for stories pertaining to these keywords and they’ll be delivered to your email inbox.

  2. Trade publications. Hey, it’s not all about the Internet. Subscribe to you industry’s popular trade publications and score some great trend ideas.

  3. Your competitors’ sites. Know who your competitors are and subscribe to their RSS feeds to see what they are up to. If you cover a similar topic, be sure to include a link back for a little link juice and blogger appreciation.

  4. Watch something useful. If you’re getting all your ideas from blog posts, switch it up by watching YouTube videos or listening to a podcast.

  5. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Get on LinkedIn or Facebook (or any other place where your industry peers hang) and see what others are talking about. Finding out what’s important to them is bound to give you a few ideas.

  6. Get a fresh set of eyes. Talk to someone you look up to in your industry and ask them to go over your site. See if they can point out anything that it’s missing.

  7. And now, back to your regularly scheduled program.  When you plan out a regular feature that you’ll cover every week, there’s one less post to worry about.

  8. Get moving. Get up from your seat and go for a walk around the block. All that fresh air and movement may get the ideas flowing.

  9. Different point of view. Do you always work in the same place, like a certain room in your home? Try some new scenery. Go to a coffee shop or the library – the new locale will be a nice change of pace.

  10. Predict the future. Look into your industry’s crystal ball and make a prediction of what you think is going to happen. And when it turns out that you’re right, you’ll either be lauded as a visionary or burned at the stake (a witch!).
